All sessions of the Academy will take place at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Split (Cvite Fiskovića 5; 21000 Split - HR). From the main bus station, it's only a short walk to the local bus station, where you can catch a bus to the Faculty of Economics (lines 11 and 18).

City of Split

The second NICE Academy will take place in the historic city of Split. Referred to affectionally by it inhabitants as "The Flower of the Mediterranean" and "The most beautiful city in the world", Split grew around the 1.700-year-old palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Nowadays, the palace is both a living and breathing heart of the city and an exquisite cultural monument included in the UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage list. How to Reach Split... by Airplane

Split Airport "Resnik" (SPU) is located about 20 km west from Split, near the city of Trogir. Direct flights connect Split to many destinations, including Belgrade, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Warsaw, Zagreb and Zurich.

At the airport, there are numerous car rentals and taxis available. Airport shuttle buses run from the terminal to the main bus station near the city center (just a few minutes from the port and from the old town). A single bus ticket from the airport to Split costs 30 kn (Kunas), i.e., approximately 4 Euros.

How to Reach Split... by Car

You can reach the city of Split by car...

  • ·from the North: via Highway A1 “Zagreb-Split” (this is the easiest and quickest way).
  • using the road through inland Croatia (Zagreb - Karlovac - National Park “Plitvicka jezera” - Knin - Sinj - Split).
  • from the West - traveling along the Adriatic coast from the north Adriatic (Rijeka - Zadar - Šibenik - Split).
  • from Southeast - traveling along the Adriatic coast from the south Adriatic (Dubrovnik - Ploče - Makarska - Split).
  • from Northteast - traveling from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo - Mostar - Vrgorac - Split).
  • and via other roads if coming from other directions.

Documents: In order to enter Croatia, you will need a valid driving licence and a green insurance card.

Tolls: Are payable on motorways in Croatia.

Rules on the road: In Croatia, traffic drives on the right. Unless there are road signs indicating otherwise, the speed limit is 130 km/h on motorways, 110 km/h on dual carriage ways, 50km/h in residential areas and 80 km/h outside residential areas.

Directions to the Faculty of Economics:

  1. When approaching from any direction, follow the traffic signs for ferry, train station, bus station and hospital. The signs will lead you to one of the main roads in the City of Split called "Poljička cesta".
  2. When you enter "Poljička cesta", drive straight ahead.
  3. Turn right at the second street light into the street „Velebitska ulica“.
  4. At the first next street light turn left into the street „Ulica Matice hrvatske“.
  5. At the first next street light turn right into the street called “Cvite Fiskovića”
  6. The Faculty of Economics will be at the top of that road.
